Our 7th Annual Shift Your Thinking Summit is here! Come join us!

Shift Your Thinking’s Annual Summit is an event that was created to provide a meeting place for parents and professionals of kids who learn differently (ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities) in order to connect, learn, be inspired and grow their community.

It came to be when Susan Schenk, a Mom of three and an Occupational Therapist, met Sperry Bilyea, a Mom of three looking for support, and together they realized that there was a need to change how we view and understand learning differences. Kids need the opportunity to be understood and to shine.

This will be Shift’s 7th Annual Summit - and since the first Summit 7 years ago we have grown into being a registered Canadian charitable organization, offering monthly live calls (SYT Learn) with a variety of incredible guest experts, to having a Parent Membership Community, a Professional Resource Hub and a Youth Rise Up Program. It has been an incredible journey.

The last keynote presentation that we would like to share details of, is the one being done by our very own Co-Founders, Susan Schenk and Sperry Bilyea (check out information about all of the other keynotes here). This session will be an interactive talk about how the pathway of hope is really about keeping the child as part of the journey when it comes to supporting them.

  • It can be hard to feel like you are doing everything you are told to do but your child is still struggling.

  • It can be lonely to know what to do while you are in the process of getting an assessment or waiting to get an assessment completed.

  • It can feel overwhelming when you are working with a number of different school staff, psychologists, therapists etc, but they all feel.

  • It can feel scary to get a diagnosis and not really know what to do next to support your child.

This discussion will allow parents and professionals to gain insight into what it means to have a pathway of hope. The presentation will help to show you how to make sure that your child is at the centre of this journey, and that it is a collaborative effort with your child.

It is the type of presentation that will help you to start to tie together many of the loose ends that you may feel as a parent or support-person of someone who learns differently.

This year the Summit will once again be virtual, and has a lineup of phenomenal guest expert keynotes ready to inspire! Our keynotes this year include Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe, Sara Westbrook, Dr. Todd Cunningham, and of course Co-Founders Susan Schenk + Sperry Bilyea.

We chose a variety of topics that span all types of learning - things like resilience, human potential, embracing who you are (even your mistakes), understanding when and why to do an assessment, and keeping hope at the forefront of your learning journey with your child/student. There truly is something for everyone.

The Summit is taking place on Friday November 12th and Saturday November 13th. Registration can be completed at the Shift website www.shiftyourthinkingld.com/summit with any donation amount, so it is completely accessible financially.

We hope to see you there!
